Hi everyone! I hope you enjoy this recipe! It's one of our family's favorite comfort foods (especially for my son's). :) Thank you for always watching my videos and supporting us. xo - Nami
Looks Amazing. Wontons don't look to hard to make. This will save me money as 2 orders of wonton soup to go usually cost $16.00 with 6 won tons per order. Thanks for the great lesson
I am a fierce lover of wonton soup and this is one of the best recipes I've come across. Simple is the key! I also enjoy very much the way your videos flow. Thank you very much for sharing!
I usually eat it in breakfast. I save it in a jar so when i want to eat, i can microway it with the broths about 1 minute. That's all! Very quick and u have a delicious meal ever 😋😋 so yummy 😋😋
Wonderful recipe! Just tried it and they came out very nicely. Still zeroing in on the exact amount of filling...a few were too stuffed and popped out of the wrapper while cooking, but no big deal. Thanks!
A lovely recipe. I cannot wait to try it out as it is both my and my husband's favourite soup whenever we eat out. I am enjoying your channel. Keep up the fantastic work!
Hi Nami, Wow your videos are so beautifully made and so easy to follow! I am new to your site. Can you use regular chicken stock? If Asian chicken stock is different, where can I find this??? Thank you and so well done!
なみさんこんにちは!あなたのレシピポストしてはありがとうございます!美味しいそうですね〜。😋 My family and I also cook this at home. I think I'll try your version of the recipe next time we make it. 又ね〜。😁
Nami you forgot to sleep? Is midnight in the bay area now and your video just uploaded. The soup looked wonderful made me hungry and is midnight so I am not suppose to eat, too bad! Well, thanks for the recipe. I'll make this maybe by Wednesday if I can wait that long.
+J BaBa Haha we wanted to publish before going to sleep. :) You are still up as well! Thank you for watching this video and hope you enjoy it! Good night! :)
Thanks for your request. I'll add to the list. It's not the same, but I like this corn soup too: www.justonecookbook.com/chicken-corn-chowder-with-roasted-potato/
Looks very good. I have always liked wonton soup since childhood, as I'd have it every time we'd eat at a Chinese restaurant. How is Asian chicken stock different from ordinary stock?
Thank you for your kind words Jeff! Asian chicken stock is made with chicken, water, ginger, garlic, and green onion. That's it. No carrots and celery etc. :) www.justonecookbook.com/how_to/homemade-chicken-stock/
I have Nikujaga recipe here: www.justonecookbook.com/nikujaga/ and Pressure cooker version with video here: www.justonecookbook.com/pressure-cooker-nikujaga/ .
I'll work on bread recipes when I lose some weight... LOL. A bit too scared of recipe testing as I don't know how many attempt I will need for a perfect recipe... haha.
Hello Nami-san ! Thank you for recipes ! They are always simple to understand and to cook. I don't live in US and I don't find wonton wrappers. Did you have a recipe for wonton wrappers ? Or can I use your gyoza wrappers recipe to make this wonton soup ?
Thank you for your kind words, Mei. :) Hmm I see. Gyoza wrappers are thicker. I don't know how to make wonton wrappers. I'm afraid gyoza wrappers are too thick BUT that's probably the best choice. :)
They should sell them in the frozen section of any Chinese supermarket, if you can't find them ask, I would be surprised if they don't have any. If they only have regular dumpling wrappers they will be ok too but ones specifically for wontons are best.
Hi. I love this recipe but I have one question.... Do I have to use sake?? Can I just leave it out or is there something else I can replace sake with?? Thank you
So you keep the broth clean. After you boil the wontons in water you will see why. If you want to enjoy the soup, it’s best to cook separately so your broth stays clear and delicious without excess flour in it
My mom made me some dumplings when she stayed with me in the USA. I'm afraid I will eat all of them before she comes back. Thanks you for posting this recipe even though it's not dumpling recipe. I also like wontons, and this recipe seems easy to make. I've had the ingredients already, and I think I will make it soon. Just one question: can I use ground beef or others instead of pork? I eat pork but my son's dad doesn't.
Hello Nami! I cannot find wonton wrappers where I live. Do you know how to prepare the dough? also, I am allergic to shrimp. Would you recommend a substitute? I love your recipes! thanks
I don't have it, and I just googled. My blogger friend has the recipe: www.chinasichuanfood.com/wonton-wrappers/. I'll try to make my own someday! You can omit the shrimp and make just pork, or combination. I recommend using ground meat so that when you bite, there is no chunky meat pieces. Thank you for trying out my recipes!
Looks delicious!!! I have a question, can i use your gyoza wrappers recipe for the wontons? Because hear wear a live is difficult to find wontons wrappers.
Sure, you can, but i recommend using ground meat so that skin won't break and when you bite into the wontons, it's in one texture (if you know what I mean...). :)
I want a clean and clear broth, and avoid the starch from the wonton skin in the broth. I do the same for cooking udon noodles in the soup broth. Always separate cooking the noodles/wontons, etc.

ra33it821 it doesn't matter if it's frozen or fresh. When the wrap is a little bit clear, and the wonton are floating to the surface, it's done. A technique Chinese people use is adding cold water. Drop wontons as the water is fully boiling on high heat. After boiling up again, add about 100ml cold water. Do it two more times, and after the 4th time boiling (not including before dropping wontons) it's done. This prevents the water gets too hot and melts the wrap. Using a big enough pot, and a lot of water is important, so you can easily stir everything around. You can also add a tiny bit of salt in the water (to the level you can barely barely taste it) to make the wrap stronger. Frozen wontons drops the water temperature further, and naturally requires more time to have the water boil up again. So no need to worry about being frozen or not. You can cook dumplings exactly the same method too.

For sure it is great all year long. I like to put green onion, cilantro, crispy garlic and fresh squeezed lime in my broth.

Just One Cookbook Thank you for your answer ! I will do some research and probably test wonton soup with gyoza wrappers !
It's so good👍. Can you share the wonton wrap too? I can't find any wrap like yours in the Chinese supermarket. Thanks
I don't have the wonton wrap recipe... I'll put it on my list. :) Thank you!
They should sell them in the frozen section of any Chinese supermarket, if you can't find them ask, I would be surprised if they don't have any. If they only have regular dumpling wrappers they will be ok too but ones specifically for wontons are best.

Hej Nami! Wow. I also love wonton noodle soup. I will do this recipe. Thank you for this recipe. :)

Just One Cookbook. Thank you for the recipe, I made it. It's very perfect for cold weather and family dinner. Love that recipe :D
SO happy to hear that. Thank you for your kind feedback!
If you can't find Asian chicken stock can you use regular chicken stock
Hi...liked your vedio. But why did u boiled wonton separately?
So you keep the broth clean. After you boil the wontons in water you will see why. If you want to enjoy the soup, it’s best to cook separately so your broth stays clear and delicious without excess flour in it
@@justonecookbook Thank you for your elucidating 🙂
mmmm looks amazing
Thank you!!!
Amazing
Love this!!! Yummers!!! ❤️❤️
I love this soupp !!!
I have so many favorite soup dishes but I think my favorite has to be pho 🍲
Mine favourite too
wonton wrapper is different from Gyoza wrapper? OH, I though they are same
Can I use gyoza wrapper in this recipe?
Chi Dao You could but I liked them better with the thinner wonton wrappers
My mom made me some dumplings when she stayed with me in the USA. I'm afraid I will eat all of them before she comes back. Thanks you for posting this recipe even though it's not dumpling recipe. I also like wontons, and this recipe seems easy to make. I've had the ingredients already, and I think I will make it soon. Just one question: can I use ground beef or others instead of pork? I eat pork but my son's dad doesn't.
+Winnie Zhao Yes you can use other meat if you like. Hope you enjoy!!
Try using ground chicken
Could I use the filling recipe to make gyoza or dumpling or is it best only for wontons?
Sure you can use the leftover to make gyoza! :)
Thank you! I thought I could substitute with some other white fish. I will try it only with pork!
Thank u.
Can I use anything else I’m allergic to pork
Hi I love your recipe but it's not available here in Kuwait , any sustitute for all your recipes with sake ? Thank you😊😊😊
You can skip or substitute with water (depends on recipes). Not the same but that's the best sub.
Wow! Very nice.
Thank you!
Hi Nami....you are my idol.
Looks delicious!!! I have a question, can i use your gyoza wrappers recipe for the wontons? Because hear wear a live is difficult to find wontons wrappers.
It will be a bit thick so you may notice it but nothing is wrong with it. Just different from thin wonton wrappers. 😊
You make some amazing looking food. Will you cook for me? I love Asian food.
Thank you for your kind compliment. :)
Can we use regular chicken stock. Or homemade one? Can we boil it in the chicken stock?
Yes you can use regular chicken stock 😊
Love that you also use the metric system. Most annoying part of cooking videos? Having to convert every single ingredient listed
can i change the meat into something else? like beef or lamb or chicken or maybe fish?
Sure, you can, but i recommend using ground meat so that skin won't break and when you bite into the wontons, it's in one texture (if you know what I mean...). :)
Curious why you don’t boil the wontons in the chicken broth?
I want a clean and clear broth, and avoid the starch from the wonton skin in the broth. I do the same for cooking udon noodles in the soup broth. Always separate cooking the noodles/wontons, etc.
#JustOneCookbook Thanks for the great recipe Nami! 😄 I'm not sure if you noticed, but there reads "WHITE PEPPER POWER" at 2:26 Had to stop and check again too see if I read it wrong.

Thank you so much for your kind feedback. They are from Japan. :)
Do I have to add white pepper?
You don't "have to" but I highly recommend. It's a really good kick to the soup. I know you don't want to buy one more thing that you don't use... but if you make fried rice often, it's good to have. I always include white pepper powder for fried rice and soup. It's like... black pepper at the end - it gives nice kick. So it's "necessary" for me, for my preferred taste. :)
When you say Serving: 4, what does that mean? How many won ton can you make if u follow the recipe? 46 ????
where did you get the stackable cilantro/scallion containers?
+George Moore Bought them in Japan last summer. :)
hi..looks delicious! how long do you cook frozen wontons for?
ra33it821 it doesn't matter if it's frozen or fresh. When the wrap is a little bit clear, and the wonton are floating to the surface, it's done. A technique Chinese people use is adding cold water. Drop wontons as the water is fully boiling on high heat. After boiling up again, add about 100ml cold water. You can cook dumplings exactly the same method too.
tipinwings thanks for the tip!
Thank you for responding for me!
What’s the difference between scallion and green onion?
It’s same but people in different areas call differently 😊
